Membranes

Picture
Cells are the basic unit of life. In multicellular organisms, multiple cells combine to produce organisms.  Each cell has a specific purpose and must regulate what enters and exits the cell. Membranes are complex structures that provide a means to control the movement of items into and out of the cell through a variety of structures and mechanisms.
